The Ultimate Week 3

If you think you had the greatest week, think again! Room 27 did!

The Year 5s are writing this blog while the Year 6s are at Cycle Safety. It's been pretty quiet when the Year 6s have been out of the room! Miss Falkner has been able to get lots of Maths and Reading testing done while it's so quiet.

On Monday we started our Measurement unit for Maths. It's been exciting to see what people do and don't know. Some of us had forgotten what perimeter and area were but we are starting to remember now. Our first activity was on estimating. We had to estimate the length of different objects then measure them with a ruler. It was interesting to see the different results. On Wednesday we pretended we were going to the Olympics and we had to give our measurements to Olympic officials so we had to measure things like our hip to hip, toe to heel etc.

Our Inquiry topic for this term is to do with Water. We found out that agriculture uses the most water in Canterbury! We were really surprised that agriculture uses more than domestic houses! We also did a SOLO activity where we linked a whole lot of words to do with water. We had to come up with reasons why they linked.

Later on today we are going to Choir, then we have a senior Basketball tournament this afternoon. We can't wait! The people in our team are Ella, Myah, Jordyn, Beth, Jarkwyn, James R and Robert D.

Have a great weekend everyone! From the Room 27 Year 5s.
